IMMERSION OVERVIEW

What This Experience Entails

Isolated atop Africa’s greatest highland massif, Ethiopia’s afro-alpine ecosystems are evolutionary islands harboring remarkable endemic species. On the windswept Sanetti Plateau at 4,000 meters in Bale Mountains National Park, more than half of the world’s remaining Ethiopian wolves (Canis simensis) hunt giant mole-rats among giant lobelias. Further north on the precipitous cliffs of the Simien Mountains, Walia ibex scale sheer vertical precipices alongside grazing troops of endemic Geladas.

“To sit silently on the Sanetti Plateau at 4,000 meters and watch an Ethiopian wolf trotting through giant lobelias in morning mist is among the rarest wildlife encounters in Africa.”
